The Psychology of Your Energy

We all consist of seven levels of energy. Each level of energy has specific feelings and behaviors connected with it. The more energy you have at a specific level the more you will manifest the feelings and behaviors connected with that level. However, each level of energy (except the seventh) also has a masculine/feminine polarity. Thus you can be predominantly masculine on one, several, or all of these levels (or none for that matter). What we aim for is to have a state of perfect balance on each level. As a man you reach this balance through amplifying and harmonizing your masculine qualities on each level. We will talk in more detail about what this means later in this project. For now, we want to look into the fundamental psychology of each of the seven levels and what it means to be masculine or feminine within that frame.

Each of these seven levels of energy has its psychological states connected with it:

Energy LevelMasculine, (+), EmissiveFeminine, (-), Receptive
7There is no polarity on level 7
6(+)(-)
5Spiritual MasterDisciple
4Loving parentChild
3BossSubordinate
2SeducerSeduced
1HunterPrey

Thus, you can analyze yourself and see which aspects you need to work with.

Men are, generally speaking, predominantly Masculine, (+), emissive at the 1st, 3rd, and 5th level, and Feminine, (-), receptive, at the 2nd, 4th, and 6th level; for women, it is the other way around.

A person who is Masculine, (+), emissive at a specific level is normally quite disorganized outwardly at that level, something that is perfectly exemplified in this picture:

Men, being masculine at the lowest (first) level of energy (material, home, health), don’t need the external structure at that level, and can thus accept a “mess”. However, at the second level (social, sexual, pleasure, car) where men are feminine, (-), receptive we need this structure to feel good, and thus feel the need to keep external order.

Just to make it clear, our home relates to the first level of energy, and our car corresponds to the second level of energy (people with a lot of energy at the second level often have a “fancy” car both for pleasure and as a status symbol).

The first energy level

The mentality on the first level of energy is that of the hunter and prey. The Law of the Jungle mentality predominates here. Thus, “Kill or be killed”, “Survival of the fittest” and “There can be only one” are the things you’ll hear from people who have a predominant energization at this level.

The predominant feeling at this level when in balance is fear. The way people at this level attempt to deal with this fear is by increasing their physical strength as well as their material possessions and security. They want stability. They want to live forever in their physical body. They are afraid of the outside world and love to come home at the end of a holiday. Their home is their “castle” where they have everything under control. They are slow and resistant to start new projects but once they start they work hard and long and do it very well. They are extremely good at fixing things at the physical level. The fact that it takes them quite a long time is just something you have to accept in exchange for good quality results. They have hardy, strong, thick bodies and strong resistance to all kinds of external conditions. They rarely get sick simply because they take good care of their body. Their refrigerator is always full and they probably have a lot of food reserves stored somewhere. They are generally very reliable and once they commit to doing something they will do it.

People at this level have a lot of energy in potential form but tend to keep hoarding it and storing it in case of future calamity.

Examples: Farmers, physical laborers, bankers, and military special forces of any country (in terms of excellent fitness and physical health).

Imbalances on the first level

The more imbalanced towards the masculine the energy is at this level, the more out of proportion the obsession with the body and the material goods; read, body-builder, complex home security system, a garden or yard which is maintained like a military base, and a relentless pursuit of endless wealth

Examples: Warren Buffet, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

On the other extreme, the imbalanced energy towards the feminine the more they accumulate excesses at the physical level; obesity, excessive sleeping, and never leaving the house. They have a tendency towards hypochondria and generally speaking, their bathroom closet looks like a pharmacy.

Examples: Seth Rogen, Michael Moore, Gabriel Iglesias.

The motto of people at this level: I don’t care.

The second energy level

At this level, people don’t fear the outside world anymore, they want to merge with it. It is the world of fashion, family, pleasure, and sexuality. This is the level of the masses. On the second level, we do things because the others are doing it. They can always be found at the trendiest new restaurants, wearing the right clothes, driving a cool car, having the right partner, and can easily spend a fortune so they can be seen in the right places. Social status is very important to them because they base their identity and value on their place within a group. They are the ones who know the right people and have a huge network.

People at this level realize that they can not live forever in this body but feel they can live forever through their family. Thus, family gatherings, traditions, and spending time together are given great importance. They also love gossip about all the celebrities.

The pursuit and enjoyment of pleasure is a fundamental aspect of this level. Energization at the second level gives us the desire to cook and eat wonderful food, dance, form relationships, and make love. Fusion with another person is the ultimate pleasure and our culture’s huge fascination with sexuality is due to the generalized predominance of energization at this level. If you know someone who never seems to enjoy themselves, is tense, and overly serious, you can be sure they don’t have a strong energy field at this level.

In regards to work, when we are at this level, we have to be constantly monitored and incentivized to be sure that we actually do the job instead of enjoying the pleasure of chatting with our co-workers. It’s only when the predominance of energy is at the third level that we start to have internal motivations and drive. At the second level, all our motivation comes from the environment.

People at this level have a lot of energy. In general, we can say that the first three levels are where we accumulate the energy that gives vitality to our entire being. Unlike at the first level, people on the second level are using and spending their energy all around but usually in an uncontrolled way in pursuit of pleasure. Those who are able to preserve this energy through sexual continence and guide it towards higher energy levels will evolve very fast.

The ones who have a masculine energy predominance at this level are, although completely immersed in the mentality of this level, able to control it. They are the ones who follow the fashion, yet are always first in doing so, and in adopting something new when the fashion changes. In other words, they are the “Kings of the disco.”

Imbalances at the second level

Men with an excessive masculine predominance on the second level are promiscuous and have many superficial sexual experiences. They are gregarious social networkers who know everyone but have no purpose or intentions when forming relationships. They are the life of the party but feel empty inside. They don’t take responsibility for the results of their actions.

Examples: James bond, Jordan Belfort (The Wolf of Wall Street)

Men with an excessive feminine predominance on the second level will be wallflowers too shy to ask a girl to dance and nice guys you see in Hollywood movies who never dare to enter beneficial conflicts, who are too kind and too nice and forget their own desire and purpose in life. Uncontrolled indulgence in pleasure and addiction is characteristic of a feminine imbalance at this level (masturbation, porn, excessive spending, uncontrollable eating for pleasure). These are the people who seem to have money slipping out of their hands because there is always something pleasurable they have to buy and always borrow money at the end of the month from friends because they can’t control themselves.

Examples in movies: Cal (Crazy, Stupid, Love), Tom Hansen (500 Days of Summer), Actor Michael Cera in every movie

The motto of people at this level: I quit.

The third energy level

The second level was all about being part of a group but on the third level we experience ourselves as individuals. These are the men with a fire in the belly. They are super dynamic and are always doing something. They have principles. They keep their word. These men have goals and plans that they choose to make sacrifices for. This is also the level where men define their priorities. Men on the second level live in a soup of ever-shifting preferences. Men on the third level choose a single direction and follow it until they achieve success no matter what obstacles they encounter. Control and power are major issues. Self-determination is highly valued by people on this level.

The development of self-control and willpower are priorities at this level. People at this level are attracted to engage in different self-improving disciplines of all kinds: yoga, exercise, fasting, sports, diets and biohacking, martial arts, and meditation. They are constantly learning and practicing to do things better, faster and more efficiently.

They are the kind of employees whom you don’t have to supervise; just point them in the right direction and they’ll do the work. They are ambitious and are looking for the next promotion. However, power struggles between people at this level can create tension within groups.

They are directive (and tend to be seen as bossy by people on the second level) and don’t walk away from a confrontation. They are data-driven and rely on facts in making decisions whenever possible. However, they are also often following their gut feeling, especially when things need to move fast (which is always with them) or when there isn’t enough data available.

They have an ability to look through others and know who they can trust, and who they can’t.

Most of them do, or at least have done, sports. They like to win and will make great efforts to be the best or to gain awards. They are, generally speaking, fit; simply because their inner fire is burning so intense that they have to use whatever energy they have. This is in fact their problem, they are the ones who burn out because they have more will than fuel to sustain it.

In general, our society is predominantly energized on the first two levels and admires and aspires towards the qualities of the third level. Men who have a predominant energization at the third level are admired for their capacity to direct others, overcome challenges, and get things done. The leadership at this level is about motivating people by making them aware of what they can gain by working with the leader. Promotions, targets and bonuses are used to get people to engage in behaviors that support the goals of the leader. Real leadership, based on awakening superior aspirations latent in people’s hearts, is only possible for people who have energized the fourth energy field as we will see in the next section.

Examples of men at this level: Samurais, Elon Musk, Maximus (Gladiator), Rocky Balboa, Steve Jobs, etc.

Imbalances on the third level

Men with a masculine imbalance on the third level pursue their goals without care for the impact this will have on others or even themselves. Selfishness and ruthlessness in pursuit of anything is characteristic of these men. In daily life, you can see it in men who do not spend time with their families because they are advancing their careers. In extreme cases, you can see it in the abuse of performance-enhancing drugs, engaging in dangerous sports without regard for the – possible – effect on themselves or family members if they get hurt, and military leaders who sacrifice soldiers without regard for their lives. These men are also unable to follow others or exist within larger organizations. They can only lead others and follow only their own inspirations.

Examples: Julius Caesar, Lance Armstrong, Willy Wonka, Tyler Durden, Napoleon Bonaparte.

Men with a feminine predominance on the third level cannot take charge or lead things. They struggle to start projects and to finish them. They have difficulty doing things on their own and will usually find a strong personality they can follow because they do not manifest a will or aspirations of their own. In extreme cases, they follow orders without thinking as is often seen in the trials after various military atrocities. They will not speak up and give feedback to make necessary improvements to various processes. They are however extremely dynamic in following orders.

Examples: Adolf Eichmann (Nazi Germany), Robert Oppenheimer (The Manhattan Project), Edward Norton in Fight Club.

The motto of people at this level: I will!

The fourth energy level

These are the people you would say have heart. They are the ones that everybody likes to be with. They are the real leaders who somehow convince you to agree with them, join them, fight, and even die with them for a superior cause. This kind of leadership is not supported by clever words or motivational gimmicks, but simply by the incorruptible character and beneficial purpose of the leader. They love in an unconditional and detached way. This kind of pure love is a balsam for the souls of those around them. These are the people who help others to develop. They are definitely not push-arounds because they clearly know their own values and they, in most cases, have an ability to look through others and see their true intentions.

These people are in fact the only ones who can be considered “human” (defining human based on behavior and not on the physical body) because they relate to others as human beings (unlike the people with a predominance on the first three levels of energy who relate to others as objects and the people with a predominance on the highest three levels of energy who related to others in a transcendent impersonal way).

Recent studies conclude that one of the most important things that makes people happy (besides genetics) is the connection with others, in other words having good friends. These people are the ones with whom you can have true friendships; they will accept you as you are, tell you their honest opinion in a kind and polite way if you ask for it, and then let it be up to you to do what you consider is the right for you without judging you. They know that in order to develop we have to have our own experiences.

Examples of people: Mahatma Ghandhi, Mother Teresa, Erich Fromm.

Masculine imbalance: These are the people who are good at complimenting and emotionally supporting others, yet cannot receive love and support when it is offered to them.

Feminine Imbalance: The people who want to be loved. To feel that others love them, yet are completely incapable of expressing, or even feeling, love towards others. They are constantly asking “Do you love me?

The motto of people at this level: I love

The fifth energy level

The people who have a predominance of energy at this level have somehow “left the human experience” and taken the first step into transcendence. They no longer relate to people as individuals, or objects for that matter as such yet to archetypes and symbols. An example of this can be Aldous Huxley’s description of a chair in his book “The Doors of Perception”:

I picked up the first volume that came to hand. It was on Van Gogh, and the picture at which the book opened was “The Chair”—that astounding portrait of a Ding an Sich, which the mad painter saw, with a kind of adoring terror, and tried to render on his canvas. But it was a task to which the power even of genius proved wholly inadequate. The chair Van Gogh had seen was obviously the same in essence as the chair I had seen. But, though incomparably more real than the chairs of ordinary perception, the chair in his picture remained no more than an unusually expressive symbol of the fact. The fact had been manifested Suchness; this was only an emblem. Such emblems are sources of true knowledge about the Nature of Things, and this true knowledge may serve to prepare the mind which accepts it for immediate insights on its own account. But that is all. However expressive, symbols can never be the things they stand for.

We can see here how Huxley, in an altered state of perception, perceives how any chair represents a certain essential quality that is beyond our normal perception. At this level, we begin to perceive these essences in everything. Through seeing one woman we might connect to the essence of femininity and have profound realizations with practical implications about femininity, about our own relationship with femininity, femininity in our society, etc.

“Study the science of art. Study the art of science. Develop your senses- especially learn how to see. Realize that everything connects to everything else.”

– Leonardo da Vinci

Art becomes a source of powerful symbols that help us rapidly and directly understand aspects of our existence and our larger relationship with life. We can also see the archetypical view characteristic of this level in the characters from Wagner’s operas who are men and women, gods and goddesses whose adventures and challenges come to represent universal human lessons that transcend the specific times and places of the settings of the operas.  More recently, the men’s poetic movement made meaningful arguments for a collective human subconsciousness and memory in Joseph Campbell’s, “The Hero with 1000 Faces” and of soul archetypes in Robert Moore and Douglas Gillette’s book; “King Warrior Magician Lover.”

If your predominance is masculine plus at this level, you’ll be drawn to create inspired transpersonal art and music. This genuine art serves as a gateway to inspire superior states of consciousness in others. People who are creative at this level often feel they are only channels through which a universal creative force moves through them.

“I play the notes as they are written, but it is God who makes the music.”

― Johann Sebastian Bach

“The true artist is not proud: he unfortunately sees that art has no limits; he feels darkly how far he is from the goal, and though he may be admired by others, he is sad not to have reached that point to which his better genius only appears as a distant, guiding sun.”

– Ludwig van Beethoven

“Those who know, not only that the Everlasting lives in them, but that what they, and all things, really are is the Everlasting, dwell in the groves of the wish-fulfilling trees, drink the brew of immortality, and listen everywhere to the unheard music of eternal concord.”

– Joseph Campbell

If you have a predominant, feminine (-) energization of this level you’ll be drawn to profound contemplation. This might take the form of meditation, listening to symphonies with your eyes closed, or gazing on some natural beauty for long periods of time. Contemplation, we could say, is observing something long enough, and with enough attention, that it changes your inner state and brings new understanding.

People at this level tend to prefer to isolate themselves not to be influenced by the “impure energies” from the people with a predominance at the lower levels of energy.

Masculine Imbalance: We are not able to express ourselves or to manifest genuine artistic inspirations.

Feminine Imbalance: These people are excessively influenced by the environment or the things they contemplate. Men with excessive feminine activation at this level are unable to regulate the flow of inspiration coming in. They have a tendency to isolate to protect their consciousness and do not participate in life like a normal person. Furthermore, we may not be able to understand the words when learning a foreign language.

The sixth energy level

The people with a predominance at this level of energy are one step further into transcendence than the people with a predominance at the fifth level of energy. They have gone beyond even archetypes and to them “people” are just small or big “pluses” or “minuses” depending on whether the people perceived have a masculine or feminine predominance.

These people are extremely detached, it is as if all of life is just a “movie” to them and they are not emotionally involved in it.

People at this level (and there really are not that many of them) are the ones who made revolutionary scientific discoveries that change the way we perceive reality like Albert Einstein and Niels Bohr. However, the vast majority of them have probably retreated to monasteries or temples where they live a simple and humble life.

Masculine Imbalance: Not being able to synthesize.

Feminine Imbalance: Not being able to analyze.

The seventh energy level

Once upon a time, somebody asked the Indian Sage Ramana Maharishi “How should you treat other people?” To which Ramana Maharishi answered, “There are no other people”. In other words, he saw everything as a unity. Everything as One.

This is the level of Samadhi or Nirvana and is considered the ultimate goal in any authentic spiritual path or religion; the complete merging with God.

The closest we come to this in our daily life is through sexually continent orgasm; meaning orgasms without the discharge of energy through ejaculation.

Roughly speaking 85% of people on the planet have a predominance on the two lowest levels of energy; this doesn’t mean that they don’t have all seven levels of energy though.

Around 10% have a predominance on the third level of energy, and the remaining 5% of all people cover the remaining 4 levels.

Probably you have already begun to realize how essential this information about the energetic levels and their corresponding psychology is for your development as a man. In the next sections we will talk about how to manipulate and energize these seven energy fields for self-improvement. You may have also begun to realize at which levels you have a predominant energization and where you are lacking energy. You may have also realized that on some levels you have a predominant feminine energization. I recommend you to take time to contemplate and journal about how the information from this section relates to you personally and specifically. You can make an inventory of your qualities and predominances at each level.
